PocketWind is a freeware weather for PC, Mac and PDA

Windstation is computer software that collects data METAR and TAF issued by airports as well as data SYNOP issued by the meteorological stations. A partir de ces informations, le logiciel connait le temps qu'il fait (vent, température, pression...) et surtout le temps qu'il va faire dans les 3 prochaines heures. From this information, the software knows how long it is (wind, temperature, pressure...) and especially the time it will be done in the next 3 hours.

The advantage is that it is almost real time; indeed, the data are updated every 30 or 60 minutes.

The disadvantage is that this information covers a very limited geographic area, and therefore this information may be different (mostly on the strength of the wind) on spots near the station.
So finally, what's the point?
Personally, I use it more to see the general trend of the curve wind that the wind really present. Moreover, after some time, I know extrapolate the information provided to the spots that concern me.
For example, to Almanarre, I know that the station Hyères is very undervalued by Northwest, a little under-rated by West while the Madrague, it is a reliable East.
However, forecasts announced they are very reliable.
To you, therefore, just compare the information provided by the station and the actual conditions on your favourite spot and with a little experience, you make all your forecasts quietly warm.
